Seafest 2012 was such a load of fun, that organiser Janice invited me back this year 2013, not only to do another 3 cooking demo’s in the Cuisine tent but also to present my Jerk Station!
People if you’ve never been to Kaikoura then, stick it on your bucket list and no matter where in the world you live, get yourself down to the South Island and this festival, which sits where the mountains meet the ocean – spectacular.
On the menu, loads of wine, but most importantly, crayfish, whitebait, scallop pies (award winning), mussels, paua and this year my sweet chilli and kiwi prawns, spicy beef patty-pies, jerk chicken wraps with coleslaw and introducing my Lip Remover Sauce – Hot Hot Hot!
Myself, Heidi and Michelle, packed Michelle’s 4 x 4 to the limit and set off, up North on our roadie, the night before, so we could finish our prep and get to the Big Bash party held in the marquee.
Next morning, at 9.00AM sharp, it was all on like ‘Donkey Kong’ my first demo started at 11.00 but before that we had to get electricity, water, set up, heat the patty-pies. Breakfast, coffee – everything. Seafest is great though because it is run like clockwork, generally if you need something it is there within minutes, if not seconds, it’s a big functional family of good buggers!
The brains behind the well oiled and organised set up – Miss H!
We didn’t really get a chance to leave our stall, but from the procession of fancy dressed event goers, despite the cloudy day, it was another extremely successful event. I’ll be there again next year, hope to see you there too!
But loved every minute!
